Last Updated: June 2, 2026

Ascend (“Ascend,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Ascend mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you access or use the Services.

By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understand this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly, as well as information generated through your use of the Services.

When you create an account, we may collect identifying information such as your username and email address. As you use the app, we collect information related to your activity, including workout logs, lift history, personal records, and performance data such as Weekly Points (WP), Season Points (SP), rank progression, streaks, and goals.

If you submit a personal record for verification, we collect the content you provide, including lift videos and related details such as weight, lift type, and timestamps. We also process information related to social features, including friend connections, reviewer assignments, leaderboard participation, faction membership, faction roles, faction activity, and faction messaging.

If you use faction features, we may collect and store information such as faction names, faction descriptions, faction member lists, faction roles, faction contribution data, and messages or other content shared within faction areas.

We may additionally collect limited technical information such as device type, operating system, app version, and basic performance or diagnostic data when necessary to operate and improve the Services.

How We Use Information

We use collected information to operate, maintain, and improve the Services. This includes creating and managing accounts, enabling workout tracking and PR submissions, calculating rankings and leaderboard placement, supporting factions, enabling faction messaging, and supporting social and competitive features.

Information is also used to process PR verification workflows, notify users of important activity such as PR approvals, review requests, faction activity, or messages, and ensure fair competition within the platform.

We may use information to maintain security, detect and prevent abuse, cheating, fraud, harassment, spam, or harmful activity, and enforce our terms and policies. Additionally, we use information to respond to support requests and improve the reliability and performance of the Services.

PR Verification and User Content

Ascend allows users to submit lift videos as part of its verification system. These videos are used solely to evaluate whether a submitted lift qualifies as a personal record under the app’s rules.

Submitted content may be reviewed by other users assigned to review the submission. The outcome of this process may impact your progress, rewards, rankings, and competitive standing within the app.

We do not use user-submitted videos for advertising purposes.

Factions and Faction Messaging

Ascend may allow users to create, join, manage, and participate in factions. Faction-related information may include faction names, descriptions, member lists, roles, activity, contribution data, and messages shared within factions.

Messages and content shared within factions may be visible to other members of that faction. Faction messages are not guaranteed to be private from Ascend. We may review, moderate, restrict, or remove faction content or messages when necessary to enforce our Terms of Service, respond to reports, protect users, prevent abuse, maintain the integrity of the Services, or comply with legal obligations.

Users are responsible for the content they share through faction features.

Social Features and Visibility

Certain information, such as your username, rank, leaderboard placement, faction membership, faction role, faction contribution, and messages or content shared within faction areas, may be visible to other users where necessary to support core features of the app, including friend comparisons, PR review workflows, competitive rankings, factions, and faction messaging.

Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information with trusted service providers that help operate the Services, such as hosting providers, authentication services, storage providers, database providers, and notification systems. Information may also be shared with other users when required for app functionality, such as PR review processes, leaderboard visibility, faction membership, faction activity, and faction messaging.

We may disclose information if required to comply with legal obligations, enforce our policies, or protect the safety and integrity of the Services and its users.

Website and Store — Shopify

Our website and store are powered by Shopify. Shopify may process information such as purchase details, payment information, and website interactions to provide and improve ecommerce functionality. Shopify’s use of information is governed by its own privacy practices.

Data Storage and Security

We use third-party infrastructure to store and process data. We implement reasonable safeguards designed to protect information; however, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Data Retention

We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the Services, maintain account functionality, support rankings, factions, faction messaging, competition systems, resolve disputes, enforce policies, and comply with legal obligations.

If you request account deletion, we will remove or de-identify your information where reasonably possible, subject to operational, legal, and security requirements.

Your Choices

You can update certain account information and manage notification settings through your device. You may also delete your account directly within the app at any time. You may stop using the Services whenever you choose.

Please note that deleting your account may remove or de-identify your personal information where reasonably possible, but certain information may be retained when necessary for legal, security, moderation, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or service integrity purposes.

Children’s Privacy

Ascend is designed for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 without appropriate consent.

If you are under 13, you should only use the Services with permission from a parent or legal guardian. If we become aware that personal information has been collected from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take steps to remove that information.

International Use

Your information may be processed and stored in locations outside your jurisdiction where data protection laws may differ.
